If you are a veteran of the United States Army, Army Reserve, Navy, Naval Reserve, Marine Corps, Marine Corps Reserve, Air Force, Air Force Reserve, Coast Guard, Coast Guard Reserve, Army National Guard or the Air National Guard, you are entitled to receive disability benefits if you can establish the following three things:
- You are currently suffering from a medical disability;
- While serving in the military there was some event or sequence of events that caused you to sustain an injury or contract a disease; and
- Your current medical disability is causally related to the injury or disease that you suffered while serving in the military.
Other circumstances, such as negligent care received at a Veterans Administration Hospital or the worsening of a non service-connected ailment caused by a service related injury or disease can also entitle you to disability benefits. And if you are found to be disabled, then you may qualify for monthly payments of up to $3,100.00 or more!
"Service-related" or "Service-connected" ailments include, but certainly are not limited to, the following:
- Head Injuries;
- Exposure Ailments (Agent Orange, Gulf War Syndrome, etc..);
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder;
- Psychological disorders;
- Neck injuries:
- Back Injuries;
- Leg Injuries;
- Arm Injuries;
- Hand Injuries;
- Foot Injuries; and
- Spinal cord injuries
